Hamptons.com Article on Members Show at Guild Hall

There was a tremendous outpouring of goodwill from both participating artists and viewers at Part I of the 70th Annual Artist Members Exhibition at Guild Hall, which opened this weekend. The opening reception ran Saturday for artist members with last names M through Z. This exhibition will run through April 26. Part II of the Exhibition for artists A-L will open May 10 through June 7.

This is the oldest non-juried art exhibition remaining on Long Island, and was organized by Michelle Vertucci, curatorial assistant and registrar; with installation done by curator Christina Mossaides Strassfield. The show was judged by Linda Yablonsky, an art critic for Bloomberg News and writer for numerous magazines.

The Top Honors went to Elizabeth Sloan Tyler for “August Heat” (oil on canvas) and Best Abstract went to Sherry Mularadelis, both of whom will receive a solo exhibition at Guild Hall. Additional awards were given to Pat Ralph for Best Representational Work, John Picker for Best Photograph, Roseann Schwab for Best Work on Paper, Darius Yektai for Best Sculpture, and Goran Petmil for Best Mixed Media. The Catherine and Theo Hios Best Landscape Award of $250 went to Mary Bayes Ryan. There were an additional 11 artists who received the distinction of Honorable Mention including Camille Perrottet, Kryn Olson, Gilbert Turpin, Aija Meisters, Anne Raymond, Jeanette Martone, Barbara Pintauro-Lobosco, Anne McNamee, Renate Pfeiderer, Rosario Valerla, and Allan Ryan.
